Revocation of certificate
Revocation of certificate means the annulment of validity of the issued certificate.
After submitting the request for revocation of a certificate, it is no longer possible to withdraw or to renew the certificate. After that, it is required to submit a request for a new certificate, or to request issuing of a new identity card.
Immediately after the revocation of a certificate, information about it is published on the list of revoked certificates of certification service providers.
The revocation of a certificate may be done only personally by submitting a request at the police administration/police station.
Reasons for revocation of a certificate are as follows:
- Failure, loss or theft of identity card
- Misuse or unauthorized use of the private key
- Cessation of validity of the certificate before the expiration of the period for which the certificate has been issued due to reasons that are specified by Article 15 of the Law on Identity Cards
- If data on your personal name or personal identification number have been modified, the person is required to request a revocation within 2 days from the date of modification
Revoked certificate can not be renewed.
In the case of certificate revocation, a person should submit a request for a new certificate or a new identity card.
